Apron Up and Join the Cause

The Chef Showdown is part of Rise Against Hunger’s new campaign, It Starts With a Meal, which inspires people across the globe to take action today and end hunger tomorrow. For a child facing hunger, a nutritious meal makes a world of difference. The Sun International Chefs will be using a Rise Against Hunger meal pack to prepare a winning dish for World Food Day. Creating awareness about child hunger in South Africa and raising funds to support children with nutritious meals.

It also challenges us Chefs to create and bring some new flavours to dishes. It is an industry where things are always changing, and you can always learn new things. It’s always fun to compete in competitions and push ourselves to strive for excellence.”

“At GrandWest, we are passionate about our communities and our people, but most importantly, we endeavour to provide a nutritional meal to disadvantaged communities in the surrounding Cape Town area. We take great pride in our kids’ programmes and our outreach initiatives. We feel that participating in this challenge will give those less fortunate the opportunity to see what amazing dishes can be made with three simple ingredients, and show them how these meal packs can be stretched to feed bigger families”.
